WINTERCHROME -- Exclusively at L.A. Wheel and Tire
L.A. Wheel and Tire announces exclusive distribution of Winterchrome and Black Winterchrome finishes for nearly any wheel!
March 12, 2010 (Canoga Park, CA) - L.A. Wheel and Tire is proud to announce our exclusive Winterchrome finish, available in standard Winterchrome (a.k.a. "Snowchrome") and Black Winterchrome. This cutting edge finish uses PVD (physical vapor deposition) processes to bond a brilliant finish to wheels that resists corrosion better than traditional chrome plating. Combined with our use of OEM factory wheels, the new Winterchrome finish is an excellent way to give your wheel the custom look of a chrome finish that is super-resistant to corrosion and is easy to maintain.
Winterchrome wheels have been tested for over 5 years in the harshest winter conditions the U.S. has to offer. Using component technology produced for NASA space shuttles, the Winterchrome finish is deposited on the OEM factory wheel surface in three layers (two base layers with epoxy, titanium and zinc, then Laser-etched before a final layer of chrome is deposited as an ultra thin layer of metal in a vacuum). This process assures that the coatings properly cover all of the surfaces, nooks and crannies of the wheel. Finally, to add luster and protection from the environment, a durable clear coat finish is applied and cured. This process lets us combine a brilliant chrome look with great resistance to corrosion, wear & tear.
The Advantage of Winterchrome Finishes
Snowchrome and Black Winterchrome finishes have many advantages over traditional chrome plating as well as other finishes. Aside from being an environmentally friendly way of finishing wheels, Winterchrome is much more resistant to corrosion during winter use (thus the name!), salt from coastal areas, gravel chipping, and general peeling. But that's not all!
- Winterchrome uses a combination of pure chrome, nickel and titanium for maximum brilliance and adhesion
- Winterchrome is easy to clean and maintain - generally, mild soap and warm water should do the trick
- Winterchrome shows no color variation during the product life; the color comes from metallization, and doesn't fade
- Winterchrome is lighter than traditional chrome plating
- Our Winterchrome process makes the finish far more durable than traditional chrome plating
- Our Winterchrome process minimizes environmental hazards and waste products that make traditional chrome plating so difficult
L.A. Wheel and Tire makes Winterchrome available for all OEM factory wheels.
